the now disused locks. There is plenty of free moorings and

Beccles
Bars & Restaurants: Beccles is a town and as such
has a multitude of bars and restaurants within a short walk
of the Yacht Station. There is a charge to moor here.
Shops: Full range in the town centre.
Burgh St.
Peter
Bars & Restaurants: Waveney
Inn. (www.martin-inns.co.uk) Situated in the Waveney
River Centre which includes camping facilites, a swimming pool
and mobile homes for rent. Extensive menu available. There
is a charge to moor here. Live music venue.
Oulton Broad
Bars & Restaurants: The
Wherry Inn, The Commodore, The Waveney and The
Lady of the Lake are all either facing the Broad or
within a short walk of the Yacht Station (mooring fee payable).
All offer extensive menus. The Lady of the Lake has occasional
live music nights.
Shops: A newsagents and small supermarket are a short
walk from the Yacht Station.
Local Attractions: Nicholas Everett Park adjoins
the banks of the Broad affording pleasant walks and
a good vantage point to watch the mutlitude of pleasure
boating which goes on at Oulton Broad. Speed Boat racing
takes place each Thursday evening in the summer.
Somerleyton
Bars & Restaurants: The
Dukes Head (www.somerleyton.co.uk/dukeshead) describes
itself as a gastropub. Extensive menu. 10 to 15 minute walk
from free moorings riverside.
Local Attractions: Somerleyton House is a stately home
open to ther public, complete with formal gardens and a maze.
St Olaves
Bars & Restaurants: The
Bell Inn (www.bellinn-stolaves.co.uk) is riverside with
extensive free moorings for patrons. Reputed to be the oldest
public house on the Broads. Restaurant or bar food. Priory
Restaurant, a short walk from the free moorings. Offers A-La-Carte
menu.
Local Attractions: The Priory Restaurant has a collection
of Llamas in its grounds.
Burgh Castle
Bars & Restaurants: The
Fishermans Inn. Riverside with free moorings located
a short walk away. Good choice menu. Convenient if waiting
for advantageous tidal conditions to cross Breydon Water.
Local Attractions: The remains of a Roman Fort can be
found a short walk from the moorings, built at a time when this
area was actually open to the sea.
