River Yare Village Directory

Norwich
Bars & Restaurants: Too many to mention. Extensive fee pay moorings are available at the Yacht Station which are a short walk from the city centre. Unfortunately, the proximity to the "clubs" of Norwich make overnight mooring less desireable between Thursday and Sunday nights.
Shops: No shortage of retailers in the city centre.
Local Attractions:
The cathedral, Pulls Ferry, the castle and the outdoor market place are all worth a visit.

Thorpe Green
Bars & Restaurants: Three public houses on the riverbank, all with gardens. The Town House, (www.pub-explorer.com/norfolk/pub/townhousethorpenorwich.htm) The Rivergarden and The Rushcuttters (www.pub-explorer.com/norfolk/pub/rushcuttersarms.htm) have extensive menus and offer free moorings for patrons.
Shops: A few local shops. Major supermarket within a mile, but a long way to walk back with your shopping.
Local Attractions: The fine city of Norwich is a short distance away and can be reached by bus if you do not want to moor at the Yacht Station within the city itself. 

Bramerton Woods End
Bars & Restaurants: Brammerton Woods End Inn. Beautiful setting on a bend in the river. Good sized menu. Free moorings for visitors

Surlingham:
Bars & Restaurants: The Ferry. Extensive menu. Limited free moorings.

Brundall:
Bars & Restaurants:
The Yare Hotel. Short walk from the river. Extensive menu. Very popular with locals. No moorings of its own. Use one of the boatyards in the dyke to moor with no charges. The Coldham Hall Hotel. Located opposite Brundall on the other side of the river. Extensive menu with plentiful free moorings. The Lavendar House restaurant (www.thelavenderhouse.co.uk) is a short walk into the village.
Shops: Good selection in the village centre including a supermarket a chemist and a doctor

Rockland:
Bars & Restaurants: The New Inn. Located at the end of a narrow dyke joined to pretty Rockland Broad, which in turn is connected to the River Yare. Good sized menu with free moorings close by.
Shops: Local provisions store a fair distance from the moorings.

Buckenham Ferry:
Bars & Restaurants: Beauchamp Arms. Food served and plentiful free moorings.

Cantley:
Bars & Restaurants: The Rushcutters. Facing the river next to the sugar factory. Extensive menu. Popular with locals. Plenty of free moorings.

Loddon:
Bars & Restaurants: Reached by cruising down the 3.5 miles River Chet, which joins the River Yare. You have a choice of The Kings Head, The Swan and The Angel (turn left up the main street from the free moorings) or
The White Horse. (Turn right from the free moorings). All provide good choice menus.
Shops: The main street has a good selection of shops, banks, a supermarket, a pharmacy and a doctor.

Reedham:
Bars & Restaurants: The Lord Nelson and the Ship Inn, both riverside, serving food and with free moorings for patrons. The Ferry Inn is located away from the village at the site of Norfolks only remaining chain ferry. Food available.
Shops: Small gift shop, grocers and doctor in the village.~
Local Attractions: Pettitts Adventure Park is a short walk from the riverside (www.pettittsadventurepark.co.uk)

Berney Arms Mill:
Bars & Restaurants: Berney Arms. Riverside with extensive free moorings. Useful stop whilst waiting for the tide conditions to change. Food available.
